For over 25 years ADC has been committed to improving the quality of public education in Central Harlem. In 1993 it sponsored Thurgood Marshall Academy for Learning and Social Change (TMA) middle/high school in partnership with New Visions for Public Schools and the Department of Education, and was a community sponsor for the construction of a new state-of-the-art high school in 2004. It was the first new school built in Central Harlem in over 60 years!
In 2005 ADC helped found the Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School (TMALS), creating an “educational pipeline” from Kindergarten to 12th grade that fosters a sense of continuity for students and their families.
ADC continues to support both schools with STEM enrichments at TMALS, and College and Career Readiness at TMA. ADC also serves as an anchor partner for the annual Super Saturday STEM Expo held at the 369th Regiment Armory in Harlem.
