Youth Programs
Blue Nile Passage, Inc.
ADC is the proud sponsor of Blue Nile Passage, Inc.
Blue Nile Passage, Inc. is a nationally recognized manhood & womanhood training program dedicated to the spiritual, cultural and moral character development of America’s youth with a focus on youth of African descent. It was founded in 1994 at the Abyssinian Baptist Church and incorporated in 1996 in the State of New York. The two main components are a 9-month rites-of-passage program for both male and female youth age 12 to 15 and a leadership and character development training program that has proven successful in several NYC public schools. Our rites-of-passage program is the largest in the country with programs in Harlem and Greenburgh, NY. Topics taught include public speaking, time management, conflict resolution, mass-media analysis, nutritional guidance, sex-education, spiritual grounding, African-American history, community consciousness, economic awareness and politics. Mentoring is a significant component of the program. Mentors commit to service for life. Since 1994, over 1000 youth have participated and benefited from our programs. Blue Nile is a 501(c) (3), not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization.

The Harlem Black Yankees Baseball Program
In the summer of 2009, ADC launched the Harlem Black Yankees Baseball Program that enables Harlem boys between the ages of 8 and 13 to develop and master baseball skills, increase their knowledge of the rules and history of the game, and play high quality baseball. The program is comprised of developmental opportunities and travel team play. All youth participate in the developmental component which consists of spring and fall clinics, and selected youth join the highly competitive travel team that participates in local leagues and tournaments. In future years, the Harlem Black Yankees will grow to include additional teams in current age groups, as well as teams for older youth and for girls.
